Bruce Arnold

My journey as a photographer started when my brother gave me a camera that he had while he was in the Air Force. I was 14 years old.  The camera was an Argus C 35mm camera, this was an old-fashioned split image rangefinder film camera. I slowly began learning how to use the camera and its controls to make simple snapshot images of things and places that I was interested in.  As time passed, I found people that I could learn and mentor with. Some of those first people were Worcester camera store owners Joe Bird and Mort Goldfader.  I worked for both stores while in high school. I also learned from Bob Mercer, a studio owner in downtown Worcester. In 1970 I served as an apprentice studio photographer under Tom Keagan at LaPorte Studio in Worcester.  In that position I processed black and white films, printed black and white and sepia toned prints.

I grew up in Worcester and now live in North Brookfield.

Over the years I’ve held many positions in the photographic industry as a photographer, technician and salesman for photographic services.  In 1973 my wife Deb and I opened a professional photo studio which we owned and operated for 18 years. During that time, we  did portrait photography, weddings and commercial and advertising photography for advertising agencies.

In 2001 I went to work for Fujifilm North America’s professional imaging division in the capacity of senior technical product marketing manager.  My job was to assist salesmen and their customers with the company’s professional camera and printing products.

While at Fujifilm I also worked with internal and external software developers who produced digital software to enable automated digital print production.

I strive to make my photo efforts unique, showing and sharing the natural world in landscape, panoramic, architectural, macro and infrared medium.  I love to help and teach others professional lighting and available light technique.
