Abigail Tolar

I grew up in the 90s and early 2000s, mesmerized by animation. I felt more connected to the bizarre, fantastical, and surreal worlds on television then with my peers. I only had some minor education in art, due to financial and mental health setbacks. I was diagnosed with Autism, followed by PTSD in my adult years. Art became my form of communication and expression. It has given people a look into the world as it travels into my brain.
In my works, I emphasize colors, values, shape, line, details, and movement to reflect the world I live in, including the intense sensory inputs. I mix realism with abstraction, fantastical and horror elements to display the nature of my own human experience, highs and lows of life.
