Our professional art instructors teach in a friendly, and relaxed environment. Class emphasis is always on the individual student’s creative development and growth with courses for adults and young adults with all skill levels and experience.

 


CLASSES


Introduction to Scratchboard – $125 Non Member/ $100 Member
Instructor: Loretta Medeiros
Wednesdays, 6pm-8pm
May 2nd,9th,16th,23rd
Class limit: 8 students

 This is an introductory class to the newly popular art form of scratchboard which was used by many illustrators in the past. Find out what scratchboard is and its history. You will learn how to create a composition, transfer an image onto the scratchboard, use tools to reverse draw the image into the scratchboard along with tips and techniques.

Instructor Loretta Medeiros, Academic Artist award winner for her scratchboard in 2016 will provide one to one support to learn this amazing form of Art.

In this ongoing class, world-renowned fantasy artist Gary Lippincott is here to assist and critique your current project, and if you ask nicely, he might show you how he would do it if he were you!   Current students are working on illustrating a children’s book, small scale sculpting, watercolor, and sketching, all mediums that Gary is an expert in! This is a laid back class where you can get the assistance you need to take your art to the next level.

Painting with oils is far easier than you might think and incredibly satisfying! Three different oil painting techniques, monochromatic, oil washes and abstract realism will be taught with this hands-on approach. Bring your paints and brushes, and leave with new skills to add to your portfolio!

Watercolor For Beginners with Drawing – $125 Non Member / $100 Member – 101SH

Susan Harris has been offering a beginner watercolor class for some time. This new class format provides the beginner with continued lessons in watercolor in addition to drawing landscape and composition in order to complete a painting from start to finish.  First session includes the completion of the drawing to be painted.  If you wish to attend all sessions but would rather the sketch be provided, please indicate when you sign up and the sketch will be provided. Either way Susan will get you excited about watercolor painting!  This photo is the subject matter for the painting. All materials are included!

The Basics of Drawing— $125 Non Member / $100 Member 
Monday Morning Class
 Instructor: Eliza Moser
Monday: 9:00-11:00am 
Session I: January 15th – February 5th- Figure Drawing
Session II: February19 – March 12th- Portraiture
Session III: March 19th, 26th, April 16th & 23rd Figure Drawing 
Session IV: May 7th – 28th – Figure Drawing

NOTE: Figure drawing is $140 members, $175 non-members due to model fees. 


This course will cover the basics of drawing in a variety of subjects, each subject focusing on new concepts and techniques to add to your skill-set. The first session will be four weeks of figure-drawing, where we will explore gesture, line-drawing, and artistic anatomy. The second session will be four weeks of portraiture, where we will focus on proportions, capturing likeness, and creating a realistic finish and sense of form. The entire course will focus on creating an understanding of the drawing method, from start to finish. By the end of this course the student will have a strong step-by-step method to fall back on as they approach their own work, as well as an extensive understanding of the concepts of drawing.

Anatomy Sketch Series— $150 Non Member / $125 Member 
Instructor: Eliza Moser
Thursdays, 6pm-8pm
I: May 10th, 17th, 24, 31st
II: June 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th

In this series we will discuss the anatomy and construction of the human form. Each day we will focus on an individual feature (torso, legs, arms, etc.), beginning with a lecture on its skeletal and muscular structure, and finishing with sketching from a live model.
Attendance to previous lectures recommended, but not required.

Live Model Mondays – $50 / Five Classes or $15 / Drop In
Instructor: None – Self-guided figure drawing & group interaction
Mondays: 6:00 – 9:00pm

Figure Drawing at Workshop13Drawing sessions start with two or three short poses and one long pose around 2 1/2 hrs. Material List: • Sketch Pad • Drawing Materials of your choice: pastels, pencils, conte crayons, charcoal etc. 

NOTE: All newcomers to the Figure Drawing class, please register below. Even though it’s a drop in class, we’d like to be able to reach you in  the event that class is cancelled due to weather. Thank you! If class is cancelled, you will be notified by email.
