Bondsville resident Suzanne has just launched her tenth book, “This Is Paradise: An Irish Mother’s Grief, an African Village’s Plight and the Medical Clinic That Brought Fresh Hope to Both,” which chronicles the story of Mags Riordan and the Billy Riordan Memorial Clinic in Malawi, which she created in memory of a son who drowned in that country while on vacation.
M.P., of East Longmeadow, has just launched her second novel, “Mending Horses,” a historical novel set in 19th-century New England about three misfits—a peddler, a young runaway, and an Irish horse whisperer—who mend each other’s broken lives as they heal a traveling circus’s mistreated ponies. Books will be available for sale and signing.

This class is for anyone who might want to explore, appreciate, and enjoy the vast and inspiring world of poetry. The general approach by the teacher / facilitator will help guide the class to meet the needs and interests of the participants through a dialogue / discussion method. Possible topics could include the creative process of the poet which would be helpful to any imaginative thinking and any artistic endeavor. Or the exploration of the interesting poetic heritage, or an analysis of what creates a poet’s work of art by looking at the wide range of work from classic poets like Walt Whitman to song lyrics by Bob Dylan to often unappreciated poets like the thirteenth century mystical Persian poet Rumi.
Instructor: UK Artist Susan Halls Cost: $130 plus $10 firing fee (optional) One day Workshop:
Saturday, December 7
9:30 am – 4:30 pm
All materials and tools will be provided. Class limited to ten. No experience necessary.
Working from the nude model, students will be shown how to easily manipulate and construct figurative forms using soft, hollow, clay shapes. The technique allows you to work quickly – with no internal armature or tedious hollowing out. By employing the use of paper clay and electric heat guns you can force dry your work as you go, accelerating your output whilst speeding up the creative process. With this immediacy in mind you are freer to concentrate on expressing the dynamics or subtlety of the pose. Emphasis will be on capturing the energy and fundamental mechanics and anatomy of the figure – not on creating portraits. Much of what will be discussed and demonstrated on the day can be applied directly to your figure drawing – strengthening your understanding of three dimensional forms.
Two poses will be studied throughout the day – one semi reclining, one standing. The model will be female.
Demonstrations will be given throughout the day and much individual tutoring offered.
This class will cover all art mediums. And note this is a morning class – what a perfect way to start the day!
This gathering will be loosely structured and as instructional as desired, but will generally focus on the social aspects of “painting together” and being part of a combined resource for mutual sharing, friendly critique, and encouragement.
Advice, guidance and suggestions will be available from Fran in the areas of drawing, composition, color, contrast, perspective, etc., at the request of those in attendance.
All levels are welcome to come and grow together as artists.
This is a 6 week progressive series of Vinyasa Flow Yoga. This series begins with a slow approach to the sequencing of postures, allowing each student to feel comfortable in the gradual build of each Yoga class. Each week we will revisit different postures while incorporating new postures and exercises. All while building body awareness and breath recognition. Vinyasa flow yoga is a class in which the movements flow from one posture to the next, while synchronizing with the breath.
This class will get you moving, breathing and meditating all while enjoying the social benefits of meeting with the same group each week, gaining a more personal experience and creating new connections.
This is a medium level class. Requiring some strength, yet no experience. We will build physical strength and breath and body awareness, while enjoying the benefits of yoga.

Understanding the DSLR
Have you ever wondered why after spending hundreds of dollars on the latest cameras you still can’t get photos you’re really proud of? We’re not talking about the party snapshots you post on Facebook, but stunning, well-exposed photographs that can be considered fine art.
This five-week course in digital photography is not just for beginners, it’s for anyone who wants to learn how to take better photos. You’ll learn what all those knobs and dials on your DSLR do, and what settings to use in any lighting condition. You’ll understand concepts like exposure, aperture, depth of field, ISO and shutter speed, and probably never want to use the “automatic mode” again.
No prior experience or camera equipment is necessary to attend – just a desire to improve your photography skills and learn more about digital photography.
If you have the following please bring to class:
Camera – Any camera will do but we focus mostly on DSLR’s so that you can change the shutter speed and aperture settings.
Tripod – To help your camera focus better and so you don’t have to worry about shaking.
Camera Lens – Most DSLR’s come with a kit lens of 18-55mm, this will work just fine.
Card Reader – To quickly and more efficiently move pictures from your camera to your computer.

This class is for grades 5-8
This class will embrace the use of clay to develop skills in rendering the features of the human face through sculpture. The initial class will begin by looking closely at facial features and learning how to sculpt these features into a 3-dimensional form. In creating a variety of ceramic masks, we will look closely at the ways in which facial features can be exaggerated and manipulated to achieve different visual effects. The result will be beautifully-crafted “masks” that represent human emotions and will be sure to spark conversation. Download registration form for Workshop13 class here.
